This project is building multi-energy hubs around 2,500+ sites spanning over 10,000 miles of UK rail, serving as intersections of energy and transportation.

Research focus:

  • Modular design & power buffering: use plug-and-play components for easy expansion and maintenance.
  • Coordinated network hubs: deliver real-time, secured operation and services for maximum benefit.
  • Integration with renewables: interface with traction networks and utility grids to support green mobility.
  • Whole-system planning: wide-area planning and optimization to advance a future low-carbon grid.

The above description is drawn from the “Our Approach” slide of the presentation, outlining application scenarios and implementation pathways.
